In 2004, a wild idea was hatched.
An ultra run in Big Bend National Park. It had never been done. The logistics were impossible. It’s several hours from San Antonio. Water is scarce. Fuel is scarce. Transportation is scarce.
It was a great event.
We have had several more runs in Big Bend National Park, most recently in January 2014, and in following years in Big Bend Ranch State Park.
The event management has been formalized into a company:
Overland Race Management (ORM) owned by Carroll Voss.
The volunteers and helpers are the same crew and some newer faces all the way back from the Big Bend Ultra of ’05. Experience counts.
