  1. Travis Lutz says:

    Hello,

I believe I’ve been registered for the BBUR however, I have not yet received 100% confirmation via E-mail or other means.

Is there any way that I can check my status??

    Thank!

    Travis

  2. media says:

Once you register online, you’ll get confirmation via U.S. Postal Service in an actual letter.
    Thanks!

  3. Monica says:

Is there somewhere on here a description of the course (how hilly, what kind of terrain)? If not, can you tell me a little about the course?

    • BBUR Media says:

Well, here I was about to give you a link when I discover that part of the descriptions got left out in our website remake. You can find maps here.
As for the course, it is run along unimproved roads, recommended for four-wheel drive vehicles only. It can be technical, it can be smooth with only the occasional rock crunching underfoot. It is not treacherous.
The course also is all downhill, overall. There is a wee bit of a grade at the very end of the 50K just so folks will think they got their money’s worth.

  4. Sean Patrick says:

For those of us who are registered for the 50k but don’t feel aptly prepared, is there a way to convert to a 25k race slot?

  5. Sean Fannin says:

I am currently registered for the 50k, however due to some set backs I don’t feel comfortable running it. Is there an option to transfer to 25k race?

  6. Mike Colvin says:

Just wanted to let you know that the Texas Beef Team has added the BB50 as a 2012 approved reimbursement event for team members. http://www.txbeefteam.org/home
Contact is Jennifer Matison at jmatison@txbeef.org

  7. Charles Dishron says:

I have a 12yr who wants to run. Is there an age requirement?

  8. Layton Duer says:

I don’t see mention of how far apart the aid stations are located or what will be available, i.e. food. Can you get that info out?

    • BBUR Media says:

Roughly, aid stations will be ~every 5 miles. Runners should definitely carry fluids. drinking 6-8oz every couple of miles refilling at aid stations. For the 50K, there will be energy bars and gels starting at Black Gap.

  9. Adrian Ortiz says:

Can you please public the limit time to finish the 50 k and the other races? thank you

  10. Chris says:

Is there a time limit for the 25k and 50k races?

    Thanks.

  11. Michael Coe says:

The 25K map has some overlapping labels. I see two aid stations on the 25K. Will there be an aid station at Black Gap where the 50K and 25K routes split? I believe there was an aid station there last year.

  12. Royce Brown says:

I have paid for the group camping on my registration. Which nights does that include? Sunday also or just Friday and Saturday?

    • BBUR Media says:

That would include Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
If you’re staying Sunday night, you’re welcome to help us break down the large tents Monday morning. If you aren’t staying Sunday night, you’re still welcome to help us break down the large tents Monday morning.
      Cheers!

  13. vickie hajovsky says:

do you have cell phone reception at the area ?

    • BBUR Media says:

      Excellent question!
      Basically, no.
There are some places up higher than Rio Grande Village that on the right day, if you hold your body just right and have the right carrier, you might get a bar.
      Do not count on it.
There are several locations for free wifi access.

  14. JEREMY says:

i was wondering , my wife is coming along is it spectator friendly atleast at the finish or will she be able to watch ??

    • BBUR Media says:

Here’s the problem. There is no room for parking anything but service vehicles at the finish line. To get to the finish line, you need a four-wheel drive vehicle.
      It’s a problem we’re looking at.

      • jeremy says:

ok thanks , its just good to see them at the finish line …once again thanks

        • BBUR Media says:

If someone wanted to provide the gear, we could put up a webcam. However, the gear would have to include a satellite internet link and cover the link costs.
Maybe we’ll take up a collection.

  15. Mike Perry says:

If possible, could someone send me the results so that I can post them on the Alpine Daily Planet. The Daily Planet, the Big Bend’s online newspaper, has more than 1,500 daily readers and posting the results would be excellent exposure for the participants.

    • BBUR Media says:

Done! Well, almost done. We have hit a wall with the 10K results and are doing a workaround with some technical problems. There are links to the 50K and 25K on the home page.

  16. Kevin says:

I would really appreciate the posting of results. It has been two days since the race. They were entering them into the computer at the finish.

    • BBUR Media says:

50K and 25K results are posted now. You will find a link on the home page. We have hit a wall with the 10K results and are doing a workaround with some technical problems.

  17. Sarah Langford says:

When is the Big Bend Ultra 50K going to be held in 2013…I would like to go ahead and make reservations.

    Thank you!!

  18. Mike Brennan says:

Is there any way I can pay for shipping and have you guys send me a Large shirt in exchange for the medium that I got? I would be happy to do so. The medium is too small and I could send it back. I’d love to have a large shirt to wear and remember this awesome run.
